How Do You Collaborate?

At the recent Enterprise Connect in Orlando, there was much discussion on the topic of collaboration and the impact it was having on the enterprise. One of the most insightful sessions was “Building a Unified Communications and Collaboration Roadmap,” run by my old friend Irwin Lazar, VP and Service Director at Nemertes Research. I was doing another session at the same time so I missed the live show, but after seeing a post by Gary Audin on NoJitter, I downloaded the PowerPoints.

While Irwin does get around to the roadmap, the most interesting part of his presentation may have been the introduction where he summarizes the results of the Nemertes 2011-2012 “Communications and Computing Benchmark” study of 240 organizations; of the respondents, 58.1% were from organizations with 2,500 employees or more. As always, Nemertes did a great job, and their research is always on point as they survey enterprise organizations directly.

Digital Signage and Professional Display Market Growth to Continue in 2012

CCATV Enters Second Phase

One Channel, One CCA, now companywide

Flat-screen televisions have been popping up at CCA facilities across the country, and after a successful initial implementation in 30 facilities, the CCATV system is now rolling out to the remaining 34 sites.

The new digital signage system is at the vanguard in promoting a culture of communication at CCA. As such, CCATV is an adaptable platform that gives facilities flexibility in tailoring content according to their needs – and the creativity of the CCATV content producers, employees at each facility who volunteer to manage their facility's CCATV.

Polycom Saves the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation $50m in Annual Travel Costs by Using Video Collaboration

MOSCOW - Mar 20, 2012 : Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), the global leader in standards-based unified communications (UC), has provided videoconferencing systems to equip the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation for use in trials and prisoner sentencing. More than 1,000 Polycom® RealPresence® video systems have been installed in courts of general jurisdiction and investigative isolation wards since 1999. Using Polycom video collaboration, the Courts of general jurisdiction have examined more than 600,000 criminal cases, an average of 800 cases per day. By conducting examinations over video and eliminating the need for people to travel and be physically present, the Supreme Court saves RUB 1.5 billion (U.S. $50.5 million) of state funds annually on prison transfers of the accused to court and back.
