CHALLENGE

Great client, challenging space. Foresight Energy, a worldwide producer of thermal coal with over 3 billion tons of reserves in the Illinois Basin, had recently moved to a new headquarters in St. Louis. The office needed an AV upgrade, but the design scheme and architectural features – including a great deal of glass – imposed significant constraints.

To provide the capabilities Foresight needed without compromising aesthetics, the company turned to the integration experts at AVI Systems.

SOLUTION

In this environment, concealment was a must. Therefore, Sound Advanced speakers were integrated and painted to match the walls of the boardroom, and JBL CBT line arrays were used on the opposite sides of the 84-inch monitor. Because three walls of the boardroom were made of glass, Polycom SoundStructure DSP was used to help control reverberation and make videoconferencing possible. Lutron motorized shades were also installed, both for light control and sound absorption. Additional details are as follows:

MAIN LOBBY: 4 X 3 – 46” LCD video wall tiles by GPO US. This wall is driven by the RGB Spectrum Media Wall 4500 to display corporate content.

SMALL CONFERENCE ROOM: Dual 46” LED with table connection for presentation. The room also utilizes Cisco C-40 video conferencing codec.

BOARDROOM: 84” LCD monitor, touch screen interface, audio/video conferencing and table inputs. Lighting and shade control is also incorporated.
