When on a video conference in a large room, make sure the camera is placed in a location where all participants can be seen. If you cannot move the camera, move into a better position.
When it is not your turn to speak, it is customary to mute your microphone so that any background noise does not distract from the conversation. When it is your turn to speak, make sure to un-mute your microphone so all participants can hear you.
When conferencing in a public location, it can be difficult to control background noise that easily distracts a video conference. Either move to another location or wear a headset.
If your microphone is built into your computer, it is easy to be too far from your microphone. This results in muffled and quiet speech that the rest of the group on your call has to strain to hear. Save them the pain by moving closer to your microphone.
If your room is too dark, it will be difficult for everyone to see you. Similarly, if the room is too light, it can wash out your features. Make sure the lighting is appropriate so that everyone can see your beautiful face.
